In 2018 Mastro’s Steakhouse opened in Houston and everyone has been talking about it since! And in the best ways possible! It is unlike any other steakhouse in Houston. Here are some words about my dining experience at Mastro’s last night.
The Restaurant
From the outside you really get the feel that you are about to step into an exclusive and private dining experience. Once inside, the decor is top notch! Think dark, modern, elegance, and luxury. The decor is absolutely beautiful and definitely adds to the overall Mastro’s experience.
The Food
Wow. From the first bite, I was speechless..in awe! And that was just the pretzel bread!!! I could seriously eat this bread every single day for the rest of my life. It is warm and soft with just the right amount of salt. The fois gras (according to my parents) was some of the best they have ever had. My petite filet mignon was 6oz of pure perfection. Cooked well done on the outside but on the inside a delicious medium. Pictured on the far right is one half of the bone in tomahawk cooked rare. Not pictured are the two sides we ordered: shoestring potatoes and creamed spinach. The portions are HUGE! You will have leftovers for days! I absolutely LOVED the shoestring potatoes. I have never had any made as perfectly as those. Thin and not overly crispy with a perfect amount of seasoning. The creamed spinach was just as delicious.
The Dessert
Yes…dessert is still “food” but this dessert deserves its own paragraph…its own world! On the left is a Key Lime Pie dessert martini. The graham cracker crust on the rim was a great touch! The chocolate cake on the left still has my taste buds dreaming. If every chocolate cake tasted this good, the world would be a better place!! On the right is their FAMOUS butter cake. If anyone talks about Mastro’s, they will more than likely mention the butter cake. It is life changing. I have never tasted anything like it in my life (and I pride my self on being a dessert person). I don’t even have the words to describe it…just get it and see for yourself!!!
The Service
Everywhere you look there is a member of the staff ready to assist you for anything you may need. Our waiter was extremely attentive, personable, and knowledgable on the menu. Even though the restaurant was absolutely packed, you didn’t feel that from your server. There was no rush, no mistakes..just great service! You didn’t have to ask for anything twice.
Overall, we had an amazing experience while dining at Mastro’s Steakhouse. We will definitely be back!
