The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

This book BLEW my mind!!!!! I am usually pretty good at predicting outcomes/ the ends of novels but no…. not this one. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would end the way it did! Definitely a must read thriller. The story is centered around two main characters, Alicia and Theo. On the outside, Alicia seems to have it all. She’s a famous painter with an equally famous photographer husband. She loves her husband more than life itself (red flag #1). Although her outside may seem perfect, her inside is anything but. Theo is going through a battle in his own mind and is struggling on how to deal with it. Things begin to seemingly start to look up for him. He gets a new job at a psychiatric facility. “Alicia Berenson writes a diary as a release, an outlet – and to prove to her beloved husband that everything is fine. She can’t bear the thought of worrying Gabriel, or causing him pain. Until, late one evening, Alicia shoots Gabriel five times and then never speaks another word. Forensic psychotherapist Theo Faber is convinced he can successfully treat Alicia, where all others have failed. Obsessed with investigating her crime, his discoveries suggest Alicia’s silence goes far deeper than he first thought. And if she speaks, would he want to hear the truth?”

This novel can get pretty dark and graphic at times. If you are going through depression or a tough time in life, this one might not be the best for you to read. I could see this being made into a movie. I would also say prepare yourself for the ending but there really isn’t a way to!
