Recently my husband and I “celebrated” our 1 year anniversary! I put it in quotations because it was all kind of crazy. A day or two before our actual anniversary (July 22)…I once again was having some health issues and ended up in the Neuro ICU for 4 days. We had a whole getaway to New Orleans planned for our anniversary and we were so excited! We found the coolest AirBnB and couldn’t wait! But unfortunately we weren’t able to go 😦
I love the tradition of saving the top tier of the wedding cake and freezing it until the 1 year anniversary and eating a piece together! Somehow between the hustle and bustle of our wedding (3 days and about 7 events Indian/American fusion wedding) the top tier was nowhere to be found. A few days ago I contacted our cake vendor: Cakes By Gina and explained everything that had been going on recently. At no charge they made a top tier identical to the one that had been on our cake! They are absolutely amazing! And their cakes are just out of this world! A lot of people say, “wedding cakes may look beautiful but they don’t taste good”. That is not the case with Cakes by Gina. We got so many compliments on how good our cakes were…even one year later people still talk about the cakes!!
After I picked up the cake, I decided to go home and set up a mini celebration at home. I decorated our table with the cake, one of our wedding portraits in a frame that was a wedding gift, a gold elephant (our favorite animal), the cake cutting set that was a wedding gift that we used at our reception, two small plates from our China sets that were also wedding gifts, gold forks (wedding gift), a light up J (shower gift), and the two champagne glasses we used for our wedding toast! It was a small set up but I think it turned out pretty cute.
