I had not heard of this book, it was a random last minute grab by the register for me. I am so glad I picked it up though! It is about a Muslim family from India that now lives in America and the different challenges they face as they navigate their new lives. My husband is from India and it was neat to recognize some of the words the characters used and foods, clothes etc. I loved this book because it is heartbreakingly realistic. As much as I love a happy ending, not all stories have one and that’s what makes it relatable. There are characters that go through a lot and grow for the better and then there are some that do not learn from their mistakes and keep on letting you down (which is 100% real life)! I hope to read more from this author in the future. A Place For Us has a 4.2 rating on GoodReads.
